Featured listings

Get chosen, not just found

Every business in this directory has a real profile page, free, written by us. Featured adds the parts that turn someone reading your page into someone contacting you: your photos, your offer, your own booking button, and the top of the list.

Your profile is already live, and it stays free

You did not ask to be listed. We found you while working out which businesses on the Côte d'Azur can actually deal with a customer in English, Italian, German or Dutch, and we wrote you a profile. That profile is free and it stays free. Your name, address, phone number, languages and a full written description of what you do, all of it public, none of it behind a paywall.

We want someone landing here to find a business that can actually help them, in a language they speak, on the first try. Every profile has to be worth reading for that to happen, including the free ones, so we are not going to thin yours out in order to sell you a better one. Featured is for businesses that want to stand out once they are already listed properly.

Something else that is free and stays free: when someone messages you through your page, it goes straight to your inbox with their email address on it and you reply to them yourself. We are never in the middle of that conversation, we do not hide your phone number, and we do not charge you per enquiry.

What a Featured listing actually looks like

Both of these are live pages you can open and click around, built on a made-up agency so nothing here puts words in a real business's mouth.

What Featured adds to your profile page

  1. 01

Your photos, on a page where nobody else has any

Up to six, with the first one running the full width above your name. Every other profile in this directory is text on white. Yours will not be, and that difference is visible before anyone has read a word.

  2. 02

Your logo instead of the initials we generate

Free profiles get a coloured square with two letters in it, because that is all we have. Featured profiles get the real thing.

  3. 03

A Featured marker beside your business name

In coral, next to your category and town. It sits apart from the Verified shield on purpose. One of those is something you paid for and the other is something we checked, and they should never look like the same claim.

  4. 04

An offer line, directly under your name

One sentence, in the place people actually read after your name and your summary. "Free market valuation booked before 30 September." "Ten percent off a first consultation." It carries an end date, so it expires on its own instead of sitting there going stale.

  5. 05

Your opening hours, where a human can see them

We already hold opening hours for most listings. On a free profile they only go into the structured data behind the page, which search engines read and visitors never see. Featured puts them in the sidebar.

  6. 06

A button that says what you want it to say

A free listing gets "Visit website". You choose the wording and where it goes: book online, message us on WhatsApp, request a quote, book a viewing. It sits at the top of the contact card, above the phone number, in coral.

  7. 07

Links to your Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn

Small, in the contact card, for the people who want to see what you have been working on before they call.

  8. 08

The description on your page, in your words

Every listing gets a written profile. On a free listing we write it, from your public information and from what customers say about you repeatedly, in our voice and to our judgement. Featured hands that over. Write it yourself and we will publish it, or send us the things we could not have known and we will write it to your brief. Either way you see it before anyone else does, and you can change it whenever you want.

  9. 09

No links to your competitors on your own page

Every free profile ends with a short list of other businesses doing the same thing in the same town, because that is useful to a reader who has not made up their mind. A Featured page drops it. Someone who reached your profile stays on your profile.

Where a Featured listing shows up besides its own page

Top of your category list, in your town

Legal services in Nice, property in Cannes, vets in Antibes: whichever list your customers actually browse, Featured listings sit above the rest of it.

A slot on the Riviera Locals homepage

The homepage carries a short row of Featured providers. There are only a handful of those slots for the whole directory, across every category and every town, which makes it the scarcest thing Featured includes.

The Verified badge is not for sale, at any price

The shield on a profile means we checked the language claim ourselves, against reviews, staff pages and direct contact with the business. It is free the moment we can verify it, and unavailable until we can. Money moves it in neither direction.

Featured buys you room on the page and a position in the list. It does not buy you the one mark on this site that is supposed to mean somebody checked, and if we ever sold that, it would be worth nothing to the businesses that earned it.

Five Featured slots per category, per town

If every plumber in Nice were Featured, being Featured would be worth nothing to any of them, and the top of the list would stop meaning anything to the people reading it. So there is a cap. When a category fills up in a town, it is full.

What Featured costs

One new customer is worth a wildly different amount depending on what you do. An estate agency that gains a single sale earns thousands from it. A personal trainer who gains a client earns a fraction of that, even if the client stays all year. So there are three bands, and yours depends on your category.

Pay monthly or yearly, whichever suits your books. The yearly price is ten months of the monthly one in every band, so paying for the year is two months free.

Band A €39/month

or €390 for the year, which is two months free

One new client covers it several times over

  • Property & Real Estate
  • Schools & Education
  • Legal Services
  • Home Renovation
  • Moving & Relocation
Band B €29/month

or €290 for the year, which is two months free

Clients who stay for years, or jobs worth four figures

  • Finance & Tax
  • Insurance
  • Business Services
  • Health & Medical
  • Cars & Automotive
  • Landscaping & Outdoor
Band C €19/month

or €190 for the year, which is two months free

Smaller jobs, but the same customer comes back

  • Transportation
  • Pets & Vets
  • Sports & Fitness
  • Beauty & Wellness

Half off the first year for whoever goes first in each category

Nobody holds a Featured slot in any category yet. Whoever takes the first one in theirs pays half the yearly price for their first year, then the normal price after that. It applies to the yearly plan only; monthly stays at the standard rate. The directory is young and going first is worth something, so we would rather discount it plainly than pretend it is a limited-time offer.

Stopping is easy on both plans. Monthly runs until you tell us otherwise and you can stop at the end of any month. Yearly does not auto-renew: we email you before it runs out, and if you would rather leave it there, that is the end of it. Either way your listing goes back to free and stays online with everything a free listing gets.

Ask about Featured Add a free listing

Tell us your business name and we will send you what your profile would look like before you decide anything.

Questions businesses ask before upgrading

No. Your free profile stays exactly as it is: your name, address, phone number, languages and the full written description. We do not remove listings for not paying, and we do not shorten them either. The free profile is what makes the directory worth visiting, so making it worse would cost us more than it would earn.

Because one new customer is worth a very different amount depending on what you do. An estate agency that gains a single sale earns thousands from it. A personal trainer gaining a client earns a fraction of that, even if the client stays a year. Charging both the same would either price the trainer out or undercharge the agency, so there are three bands and your category sits in one of them.

On a free listing, we do, from your public information and from what comes up repeatedly in your reviews. It is written to be useful to a reader rather than flattering to you, and we do not take rewrites to order on the free tier, or the descriptions would all turn into advertising copy. Featured changes that: send us your own text and we publish it, or send us the details and we write it to your brief. If something in a free description is factually wrong, tell us and we will fix it regardless of tier.

Up to six, emailed to us as attachments, at least 1200 pixels wide. Photos of your premises, your team or your finished work all do better than stock images or a photo of your logo. We crop and compress them, and we will tell you if one is too small to use.

Monthly if you would rather keep the commitment small while you see whether the directory sends you anything, yearly if you want it cheaper. The yearly price is ten months of the monthly one in every band, so a year costs the same as ten months and you save two. The half-price offer for the first business in a category applies to the yearly plan only. You can start monthly and switch to yearly later; tell us and we will credit what you have already paid for that period.

On the monthly plan, tell us and it stops at the end of that month. On the yearly plan there is no auto-renewal at all: we email you before the year runs out, and if you do not reply, it simply ends. Either way the listing drops back to free and stays online with everything a free listing gets. Nothing is deleted.

Then we will tell you, and put you on the list for that category in that town. Slots come free when a year runs out and a business decides not to continue. We will not quietly raise the cap to fit one more in, because the cap is the reason the slot is worth having.

Each listing sits in one category and one main town, so a Featured listing is Featured in that one place. If you genuinely operate as separate offices, get in touch and we will look at it case by case rather than duplicating the same business across the directory.
