This policy explains what personal data Riviera Locals collects, how it is used, and your rights under the GDPR. The data controller is Markus Green, Müllerstr. 132, 13349 Berlin, Germany, reachable at hello@rivieralocals.com.

What data we collect

We collect personal data only when you actively provide it:

  • Contact form submissions: name, email, phone (optional), and message
  • Listing submissions: business name, contact name, email, phone (optional), and website
  • Listing claim requests: your name, email, and proposed changes to a listing's details
  • Analytics data if you consent: anonymised page view data via Google Analytics 4

How we use it

  • Contact form data is used solely to respond to your enquiry
  • Listing submission data is used to create and manage your business listing
  • Listing claim data is used to verify ownership and update the listing if the request is approved
  • Analytics data is used to understand how the site is used and improve it

Legal basis

We process contact, listing submission, and listing claim data on the basis of your consent, given via the checkbox on each form. Analytics data is processed on the basis of consent, given via the cookie banner.

Data retention

Contact, listing submission, and listing claim form data is forwarded by email and not stored in a database. Email records are retained in the admin inbox until manually deleted. Approved directory listings are stored for as long as the listing remains active. You may request deletion at any time.

Third parties

  • Supabase — database hosting for the directory listings (EU region)
  • Vercel — website hosting
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Google Analytics 4 — analytics (only if you consent)

Third-party data transfers

Vercel, Resend, and Google Analytics are US-based services. Data transferred to them is covered by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) under GDPR Article 46. Each provider maintains a Data Processing Agreement: Vercel DPA, Resend DPA, Google Ads Data Processing Terms. Supabase stores data in the EU (Frankfurt region).

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights. Contact us at hello@rivieralocals.com to exercise any of them.

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your personal data
  • Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw any consent you have given, at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing
  • Lodge a complaint — complain to your local supervisory authority (in Germany: the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit)

Cookies and local storage

We use a single analytics cookie (Google Analytics 4) only if you consent via the banner on your first visit. No advertising or tracking cookies are set. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies.

The "Recommend" button on listing pages stores a randomly generated anonymous ID in your browser's local storage. This ID contains no personal data and cannot be used to identify you. It is used only to prevent duplicate recommendations from the same browser.
