What ABC School International offers English speakers in Nice
ABC School International has been on boulevard Carnot in east Nice since 1987, founded by André Rosset, and takes children from three to eleven, petite section through to CM2. Teaching is bilingual French and English from nursery upwards and it prepares Cambridge English exams from the age of seven. It also runs specific classes for intellectually gifted children and adaptation classes for pupils arriving mid-stream. The practical wrapper counts as much as the teaching: a school bus, an organic canteen, supervised homework, care from 07:30 to 18:00 around a 09:00 to 16:30 day, and language trips to Scotland.
It is a private school sous contrat with the State, and that phrase decides a great deal. A school under contract teaches the national programme on national timetables, its teachers are recruited to the same qualification requirements as in the state system and are paid by the State, and the contribution families pay covers everything else, and may be scaled to household income and family size. Fees are therefore usually far below a hors contrat international school. Ask which status a private school holds before you compare any two prices.
